Chicken Liver Masala Liver masala recipe is one of the famous recipes in non-veg section. It is quite popular dish in many restaurants and dhabas. People usually love to have Chicken Liver Recipes as a side dish when having beverages or alcohol. Because of its spiciness people of all ages like to have during winter season.

I have found few people making slices of liver but i feel that not a good idea as this is soft it may spread while cooking. Also we need to take care while sauting, it should be done with gentle care. Few people like to slice onions long and saute them and others like to go traditional way of slicing thin. We cannot point any of them as they give same flavour.


Liver – 250 grams (you can choose chicken or mutton variant)

Ginger-garlic paste – 1 ¼ tbsp.

Red Chilli powder – 1 tbsp.

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp.

Garam masala powder – 1/4 tbsp.

Cumin seed (jeera)- 1/4 tbsp.

Mustard seeds – 1/4 tbsp.

Onions(big) – 2 nos.

Oil – 3 tbsp.

Salt – 1/2 tbsp. (as per your taste)

Cloves- 4-5 nos.

Green cardamom – 2 no.

Daalchini (cinnamon stick) – 2-inch thin strip

Green chillies – 3 nos.

Lemon – 1 no. (optional)

How to Make Liver Masala Recipe:


  • Wash and remove thin layer above the liver.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt and ginger garlic paste.


  • Add little garam masala powder.


  • Add 1 tbsp. oil and mix well.


  • Let the above mixture marinate for around 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil on a nonstick vessel and put mustard seeds, jeera and green cardamom, cloves and cinnamon sticks.


  • When you notice mustard seeds spluttering, add sliced onions.


  • Once onions turn translucent, add green chillies and saute for 2 minutes on low heat.



  • Add marinated liver. Let it cook further for about 5 minutes.


  • Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.

Tip: If you feel this recipe is a bit spicy you can add few drops of lemon juice to lower its spiciness.
