Prepare thin consistency of sugar syrup by adding water and sugar in a pan.

Meanwhile, discard the dark edges of the bread and cut it into 2-inch size slices or cubes.

Usually frying bread in ghee gives a nice aroma and flavour, if you cannot afford it we can even go with sunflower oil.

Fry bread slices in ghee on low flame so that they get fried properly and attain golden colour.

Drain excess ghee/oil and keep aside. If sugar syrup is done, directly transfer to syrup and cook till they turn soft.

On another side, in a pan fry available dry fruits (we have added almonds, cashew, pistachio and melon seeds). Keep aside.

Bread absorbs sugar syrup and turns soft. To change the bread halwa recipe's dark colour to mild, we have added yellow artificial syrup in small quantities.

At last add unsweetened khova, milk, cardamom powder and dry fruits.

Serve double ka meetha recipe hot or cold.
