Ingredients
For stuffing AlooBonda Recipe:
  • Potatoes – 1/2 kg.
  • Onion - 1 no. big
  • Mango powder/ Amchur - 1 tbsp.
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp.
  • Curry leaves - 1 tbsp.
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Green chilies - 4 nos.
  • Hing - a pinch
  • Red Chili powder - 3/4 tbsp.
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Oil - 3 tbsp.
  • Salt - 1/2 tbsp. as per your taste
For Batata Bonda batter:
  • Besan/ gram flour – 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  • Baking powder - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Salt - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Red chili powder - 3/4 tbsp.
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Water - to make the batter.
Instructions
Preparing Batata Vada Filling:
  1. In a vessel, put potatoes and pour water till they are submerged.
  2. Boil till they are cooked to soft, remove the skin and mash them.
  3. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies.
  4. Add sliced onions, red chili powder, asafoetida, and salt.
  5. Sprinkle garam masala powder, turmeric powder, mango powder and add ginger garlic paste.
  6. Saute for a while, add mashed potatoes and cook for a while.
  7. Mix coriander leaves and off the heat, keep aside.
Aloo Bonda Batter:
  1. In a wider vessel, add gram flour, rice flour, ginger garlic paste.
  2. Add baking powder, turmeric powder, salt, garam masala powder and red chili powder.
  3. Mix all ingredients and add little water to make a thick and soft batter.
Making Potato Bonda recipe:
  1. Once potato curry is cooled, make small balls and dip them in the batter.
  2. On another hand, heat oil in a kadai and gently put them into oil.
  3. Deep fry them till they turn their color to golden brown.
  4. Serve Potato Bonda Recipe or Aloo Bonda with pudina chutney.
