Ingredients
  • Chana dal – 1 cup
  • Fresh coconut – 1 cup
  • Water – 1 glass
  • Oil – 2 tbsp.
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tbsp.
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp.
  • Onions – 1 cup
  • Garlic – 12 No. crushed
  • Green chillies – 3 No.
  • Tomatoes – ½ cup
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp.
  • Salt – 1 tbsp.
  • Water – 200 ml.
  • Red chilli powder – ¾ tbsp.
  • Coriander powder – ½ tbsp.
  • Garam masala powder – ½ tbsp.
  • Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp.
Instructions
  1. Clean and boil chana dal by adding 1 glass full water either in a pressure cooker or with the lid covered.
  2. Add little oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, garlic, green chillies and onions. Saute for a while.
  3. Either grate fresh coconut or crush them to powder and cook for a while.
  4. Put salt and turmeric powder, mix and cook for a while with lid covered.
  5. Add chana dal along with its stock, red chilli powder and little water.
  6. Cook Coconut Chana Dal Curry till coconut is cooked and it becomes dry.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala powder, coriander powder and its leaves.
  8. Mix Senagapappu Kobbari Curry and serve hot either with steam rice or with chapati.
