Ingredients
  • Bhindi/ ladies finger/ okra – 1 large bowl 250 gms.
  • Oil – 5 tbsp.
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp.
  • Onions – 1 cup
  • Curry leaves – 2 tbsp.
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp.
  • Tomato puree – 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp.
  • Salt – ½ tbsp.
  • Red chilli powder – 1 ¼ tbsp.
  • Coriander powder – ½ tbsp.
  • Garam masala powder – ½ tbsp.
  • Curd – 1 cup
  • Water – 200 ml.
Instructions
  1. Clean and slice ladies finger into 1 inch pieces.
  2. Add little oil in a pan and cook on low flame till they turn soft.
  3. Transfer to the same bowl and keep aside.
  4. Add a little more oil in a pan and cumin seeds, curry leaves, onions and ginger garlic paste.
  5. Saute for a while and add tomato puree, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt.
  6. Mix well and cook for a while with lid covered till oil oozes out of tomato puree.
  7. Add curd and 200ml water (based on the gravy you need) and bring it to boil.
  8. Put semi-cooked bhindi and cook for a while till we get a thick gravy.
  9. Serve Bhindi Masala Recipe hot with steam rice or with chapati.
