Ingredients
  • Beetroot – 250 gms.
  • Oil – 4 tbsp.
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tbsp.
  • Cumin seeds/ Jeera – ½ tbsp.
  • Chana dal – ½ tbsp.
  • Onions – ½ bowl 2 large size
  • Green chillies – 3 No.
  • Curry leaves – 2 tbsp.
  • Salt – 1 tbsp.
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp.
  • Red chilli powder – ¼ tbsp.
  • Sesame powder – 1 tbsp.
  • Coriander powder – ½ tbsp.
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp.
Instructions
  1. Peel beetroots and cut them into small cubes and keep aside.
  2. Prepare onions by slicing into small pieces and slice green chilles, keep aside.
  3. On a pan, heat oil and add chana dal, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Saute for a while.
  4. Add onions, chopped green chillies and curry leaves.
  5. Mix and add beetroots and again mix. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle turmeric powder, salt (as per your taste) and cook till pieces are soft.
  7. When you feel a recipe is almost cooked, sprinkle sesame powder, coriander powder and chilli powder ( adjust as per your spiciness as we have already added green chillies).
  8. Mix well and garnish Beetroot Curry with coriander leaves and serve hot with steam rice or with Indian bread.
