In a thick bottom, aluminium vessel add little oil and put cinnamon sticks, green cardamoms, bay leaves, cloves and cumin seeds.

Add sliced onions and saute for a while and add slit green chillies.

Put ginger garlic paste and saute for a period. Add tomatoes and mix.

Sprinkle red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt as per taste and mix.

Once tomatoes turn soft add chicken and cook for 10 minutes on low flame with lid covered.

Meanwhile, slice red sorrel leaves and put them in semi-cooked chicken pieces.

Mix well and cook for 10-15 minutes with lid covered till chicken completely cooks.

At the end sprinkle coriander powder and serve gongura chicken recipe.
