Sometimes if I have time to prepare, I make khoya myself. It is nothing but evaporated milk, I mean boil milk to its quarter so that it becomes thick and add sugar to it. You can also prefer condensed milk as an alternative, this gives you a smooth texture. If you need granular texture then you need to go with unsweetened khoya available in the supermarket.

You can keep it simple by following below process or even give rich touch by adding a few almonds and pistachios to garnish. If you need white Khoya Burfi Recipe you can leave it as it is or else you can give a rich touch by adding Kesar or saffron strands.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Mawa Barfi:

  • Khoya/ Mawa – 500 gms.
  • Sugar powder – 300 gms.
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tbsp.
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp.

Instructions

How to Make Mawa Barfi Recipe:

  1. Mash khoya and transfer into the heavy saucepan.
  2. Cook on low flame until you get a soft lump.
  3. Add sugar powder. Stir continuously, you get smooth paste and moisture is evaporated.

Tip: When it comes to end, you can find the thick batter with mass accumulated. One need to stir gently until it loses its stickiness. If it is sticky then that means it still needs to be cooked.

    Tip: If you feel Khoya Burfi is sticky even after cooking, you may use milk powder and knead.

    1. Transfer this paste to a plate greased with ghee.
    2. Let Mawa Barfi Recipe get cooled, cut into your required shape.
