Ingredients

  • Bread – 700 gms.
  • Sugar – 500 gms. 1 medium-sized bowl
  • Water – 1 bowl
  • Ghee – 2-3 cups
  • Cashew – 3 tbsp.
  • Pistachio – 3 tbsp.
  • Almonds – 2 tbsp. slit horizontally
  • Melon seeds – 2 tbsp.
  • Food colour – 3 tbsp. yellow colour
  • Milk – 1 glass 250 ml.
  • Khova – 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tbsp.

Instructions

  1. Prepare thin consistency of sugar syrup by adding water and sugar in a pan.
  2. Meanwhile, discard the dark edges of the bread and cut it into 2-inch size slices or cubes.
  3. Usually frying bread in ghee gives a nice aroma and flavour, if you cannot afford it we can even go with sunflower oil.
  4. Fry bread slices in ghee on low flame so that they get fried properly and attain golden colour.
  5. Drain excess ghee/oil and keep aside. If sugar syrup is done, directly transfer to syrup and cook till they turn soft.
  6. On another side, in a pan fry available dry fruits (we have added almonds, cashew, pistachio and melon seeds). Keep aside.
  7. Bread absorbs sugar syrup and turns soft. To change the bread halwa recipe’s dark colour to mild, we have added yellow artificial syrup in small quantities.
  8. At last add unsweetened khova, milk, cardamom powder and dry fruits.
  9. Serve double ka meetha recipe hot or cold.

How to make Double ka Meetha Recipe:

1.  In a pan add sugar and water. Bring it to boil till it reaches thin consistency.

2.  Remove the edges of the bread and cut it into four slices.

3.  In a pan add the required quantity of ghee and put bread slices into it.

4.  Fry bread slices on low to medium flame till they turn a golden brown colour. Flip to the other side and once perfectly fried, drain excess ghee/oil and transfer to another plate. Similarly, fry the remaining bread slices.

5.  When the sugar syrup is ready, put fried bread slices into the syrup and cook on low to medium flame till the bread turns soft.

6.  Add little ghee and add cashew, pistachio, almonds and melon seeds. Mix and fry on low flame.

7.  When bread turns soft and absorbs all sugar syrup put yellow food colour and mix well.
