Potato RaitaPotato Raita is one of the simple yet appealing raita recipes. You might have tried different combinations of vegetables and fruits to make yogurt raita, but today I tried to simplify the ingredients and used spices which are readily available in your kitchen.

Yogurt is rich in probiotic bacteria which help in digestion of your food. It helps in absorbing vitamins and minerals from the food you have during your meals. In simple words, Indian food cannot be said complete without accompanied with raita.

All potato lovers can cherish your meals with boiled potatoes dipped in yogurt. If you are more creative you can also add pomegranate seeds. Ingredients

  • Potatoes medium sized - 3 no.
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 tbsp. If you like low spiciness then adjust according to your taste
  • Green chilli minced - 1 tbsp.
  • Yogurt/ curd - 2 cups
  • Mint leaves minced - 1 tbsp.
  • Cumin seeds roasted and powdered - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Black salt/ rock salt - a pinch
  • Black pepper powder – ½ tbsp.
  • Curry leaves – 1 tbsp.
  • Mustard seeds – 1 pinch
  • Oil to fry

Instructions

How to Make Potato Raita Recipe:

  1. Beat the yogurt/ curd until you get a smooth consistency.
  2. Add red chili powder, black pepper powder, green chili paste and mint leaves.
  3. Boil potatoes either outside or in a microwave oven
  4. Cut boiled potatoes into small pieces and fry them in oil until you attain golden brown.
  5. Transfer these potatoes to yogurt and mix well.
  6. Sprinkle roasted cumin seed powder and mix.
  7. Garnish with curry leaves and mustard seed tadka.

Tip: I suggest making Potato Raita at-least an hour before you have your meals as it takes some time to absorb the flavor of yogurt for cooked potatoes.
