Restaurant Style Paneer Masala Recipe – This version of the recipe is one of the favourite recipes in Vegetarian Section. Although we can make our own paneer by curdling milk, I have used branded paneer.
Usually, most of the vegetarians like to have Paneer Recipes during weekends along with Indian bread and vegetable biryani.
Did you know even you can make Restaurant Style Paneer Masala Recipe at home? When a person sees the image of this recipe, the first impression he has is soft paneer cubes immersed in spicy tomato onion gravy. Second is that always this recipe tastes good only in restaurants or dhabas.
Some of us like to fry paneer to a golden brown and let it cook in gravy till it absorbs authentic spices whereas others like to fry gently so that paneer cubes are soft. In this condition, cubes might be soft but may not absorb spices.
Tips to make perfect Paneer Masala Recipe at home:
- In order to get an amazing flavour of the Masala gravy, we need to fy onions, tomato puree, green chillies and cashew in oil.
- When we blend above spices, if they are blended to smooth paste you get a creamy texture.
- Usually, cubes are sliced to 1-inch size because they can be fried easily and absorb flavours of spices.
- If you can make perfect paneer then it is well and good or else it’s a good idea to purchase branded paneer.
- If you have fried cubes to a golden brown then it needs time to cook and absorb spices.

Restaurant Style Paneer Masala Recipe is one of the favourite recipes in Vegetarian Section.
Ingredients
- 200 gms. Paneer
- 8 tbsp. Oil – 8 tbsp.
- 1 bowl Onions
- 3 tbsp. Cashew
- 1 bowl Tomatoes
- 2 No. Green chillies
- 1¼ tbsp. Salt
- ½ tbsp. Cumin seeds
- 4 No. Cinnamon sticks
- 6 No. Cloves
- 4 No. Green cardamom
- 3 No. Bay leaves
- ½ tbsp. Ginger garlic paste
- ½ tbsp. Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp. Red chilli powder
- ½ tbsp. Coriander powder
- 250 ml. Water
- ½ tbsp. Garam masala powder
- 2 tbsp. Coriander leaves
Instructions
- First slice tomatoes, onions, green chillies, paneer and coriander leaves.
By adding salt, all above ingredients cook fast and become soft in a minute or two and keep aside till they are cooled.
Meanwhile, fry paneer cubes till they turn golden brown and keep aside.
By now above spices might be cooled, so blend them to a soft paste.
- In a vessel, heat oil and add cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon sticks, ginger garlic paste and bay leaves.
- Sprinkle salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder.
- Mix all ingredients and cook for a minute till they are cooked.
- In order to get soft dilute gravy and add paneer cubes and cook till cubes become soft and absorb spices by covering with a lid.
At last, sprinkle little garam masala powder and cook for a second.

How to make Restaurant Style Paneer Masala Recipe:
- Heat 4 tbsp. oil in a Kadai and onion pieces, cashew and tomato pieces.
- Add green chillies and a little salt, mix well.
- Cook for a minute or two with lid covered till onions and tomatoes turn soft.
- In a separate pan, heat oil and add paneer pieces.
Tip: Cut into one-inch pieces so that they can be fried easily.
- Fry them on medium heat till they turn golden brown.
- Transfer them into another bowl and keep aside.
- In a grinder add onion and tomato pieces and make a paste.
- Again in a Kadai add 2 tbsp. oil add cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks and cloves.
- Add cloves, bay leaves and ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a while.
- Add blended tomato, cashew and onion paste.
- Sprinkle turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder and coriander powder, mix well.
- Cook for a minute with lid covered.
- Add water so that you get dilute gravy.
- Put fried paneer pieces and cook for a minute or two with lid covered.
- Sprinkle garam masala powder and cook for a minute.
- Serve into a serving bowl and garnish Paneer Masala Recipe with coriander leaves.
