Mawa BarfiMawa barfi is one of the simple Indian desserts with fewer ingredients. It is prepared using khoya as main ingredient which is loaded with calcium and vitamins. Sometimes if i have time to prepare, i make khoya myself. It is nothing but evaporated milk, i mean boil milk to its quarter so that it becomes thick. You can also prefer condensed milk as an alternate, this gives you smooth texture. If you need granular texture then you need to go with unsweetened khoya available in super market.

Ingredients:

 

Khoya/ mawa – 500 gms.

Sugar powder – 300 gms.

Cardamom powder – 1 tsp.

Ghee – 1 tsp.

Prepare mawa barfi:

 

  • Mash khoya and transfer into heavy saucepan.
  • Cook on low flame until you get soft lump.
  • Add sugar powder. Stir continuously, you get smooth paste and moisture is evaporated.

Tip: When it comes to end, you can find thick batter with mass accumulated. One need to stir gently until it looses its stickiness. If it is sticky then that means its still need to be cooked.

Tip: If you feel its sticky even after cooked, you may use milk powder and knead.

  • Transfer this paste to a plate greased with ghee.
  • Let mawa barfi get cooled, cut into your required shape.
