Chicken Manchurian Recipe | How to Make Chicken Manchurian Gravy

Chicken ManchuriaChicken Manchurian Recipe is basically the Indo-Chinese recipe. Whenever I go to the restaurant I like to order this recipe accompanied by noodles or egg fried rice.

I have observed some making this recipe even by adding the egg while marinating, you can also add an egg if you like. In this variation, I used eggs for making Chicken Manchurian Recipe while deep frying. The egg makes chicken smoother from inside and crispy from outside, as egg white acts as a binding ingredient. Also, it enhances the flavor of this recipe.

Ingredients for Marination:

  • Boneless Chicken – 300 gms.
  • Egg beat - 2 tbsp.
  • Black pepper - 1/4 tbsp.
  • Soya sauce - 1 tbsp.
  • Rice flour/ maida – 1 tbsp.
  • Corn flour – 1 tbsp.
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp.
  • Red chilly powder - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Oil - 1 tbsp.

Ingredients for Chicken Manchuria:

  • Garlic cloves – 1 tbsp.
  • Curry leaves - 1 tbsp.
  • Green chillies – 3-4 nos.
  • Onions - 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves – ¼ cup grated
  • Soya sauce - 1 tbsp.
  • Oil - 3 tbsp.
  • Water - 50 ml.

Note: We can add Ajinomoto, lemon extract or vinegar, tomato sauce and even chilli sauce if you like spicier. I have avoided these ingredients.


    How to Make Chicken Manchurian Recipe:

    1. Slice chicken into small cubes, clean it under water.
    2. Add egg beat (we can avoid yellow), soya sauce, black pepper, all-purpose flour, corn flour, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, oil and salt.
    3. Mix all ingredients with a spoon (hands preferred) so that spices are coated to pieces.
    4. Keep this aside and let it get marinated for 30 minutes.
    5. In a kadai/ hollow vessel add oil and deep fry chicken pieces till they turn soft and till crust turn a golden brown colour.
    6. Keep these fried pieces aside.
    7. Take a pan, add little oil, finely sliced garlic pieces, green chillies, onions and curry leaves.
    8. Saute for a while till onions turn translucent.
    9. Add coriander leaves and sauté for a second.
    10. Drop few drops of soya sauce(adding more will make recipe dark), little water and bring to boil.
    11. Add fried chicken pieces and sauté for a minute so that gravy is coated well to the pieces.
    12. Garnish Chicken Manchurian recipe with onion slices and lemon.

    How to Make Chicken Manchurian Recipe:

    • Clean chicken with water and add egg beat, black pepper, soya sauce and corn flour.


    • Add rice flour or maida/ all purpose flour, red chilly powder, salt and ginger garlic paste.


    • To lock moisture add 1 tbsp. oil.


    • Mix all together so that this spice mix is absorbed by the chicken.


    • Marinate for about 30 minutes.
    • Deep fry chicken pieces until you get the golden colour.


    • Add 3 tbsp. oil on a pan and put garlic pieces sliced finely, curry leaves and green chillies.

    • Add onion pieces and saute until translucent.

    • Finely chop coriander leaves and add them to onions.

    • Add 1 tbsp. soya sauce and little water and boil for a while.

    • At last, add fried chicken pieces and saute well so that gravy is absorbed by pieces.

    • Garnish with onion slices and lemon cut into two halves.
    • Serve Chicken Manchurian recipe hot.
